Implementation Of Waste Management in The Bantan Berseri Abadi Waste Bank Group

Abstract

The waste problem has become a very important issue recently, as in Bantan Village. Bantan sub-district, which is one of the densely sub-districs in Pematang Siantar City, has a problem with landfills. The existing waste is piling up every day because there is no solution to deal with this waste. Therefore, the Fuel Terminal Pematang Siantar together with the Bantan Subdistrict Government initiated a waste bank program. The focus of this research is the utilization and processing of anorganic waste. With waste management carried out by the community, public awareness will arise in protecting the environment and an increase in people’s income, as well as growing public awareness of managing waste. This is proven by the activities carried out by the waste bank group. The activities carried out include processing plastic waste into paving blocks, saving and giving alms to waste, and providing additional food for toddlers. With the Bantan Berseri Abadi Waste Bank program, it is hoped that it will reduce the amount of waste generated through appropriate and sustainable waste processing activities
