Abstract

Most farms in Indonesia still use conventional farming which results in the depletion of supporting resources and causes land degradation on a large scale. This agricultural system results in low product selling prices, increased production costs, decreased soil fertility, limited water availability, and increasingly uncontrolled fertilizer prices. Efforts that can be made to change this habit are by taking an alternative approach, implementing agricultural practices in accordance with the principles of sustainable agricultural patterns through dissemination efforts carried out to the community. This research aims to determine to what extent the Family Medicinal Plant Cultivation Program and Organic Rice can contribute to reducing the use of inorganic fertilizers in Payuputat Village, West Prabumulih District, Prabumulih City. This research uses qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, observations of members of the Lubuk Nior group, and literature studies. The research results showed that there was a system change (redesign system) in plant maintenance patterns which initially used inorganic fertilizers and then switched to using organic fertilizers, herbicides and natural insecticides in the form of Local Microorganisms (MOL). Apart from that, the use of the Drip Irrigation System as a plant irrigation system that is integrated with liquid organic fertilizer can increase agricultural productivity, eradicate plant pests and be able to adapt to climate change.
